Charles Dickens Birthplace Museum

A small terraced house built in 1805 in which the famous novelist was born in 1812. Now restored and furnished to illustrate the middle-class taste of the early 19thC. Displaying items pertaining to Dickens' work, portraits of the Dickens' family and the couch on which he died. Enter through the downstairs kitchen and up the small curving staircase to the parlour, dining-room and front bedroom. Dickens' readings in the exhibition room at 1500 on the 1st Sun of each month.
